Das in Ohio, USA, beheimatete Projekt UNTAMED LAND – die weltweit erste Metal-Band, die die wilden Klänge klassischer, alter Western-Filme in sich vereint – wird diesen Freitag, den 8. Oktober 2021, ihr zweites Album „Like Creatures Seeking Their Own Forms“ über Napalm Records veröffentlichen.
Nach der Veröffentlichung ihrer hochfliegenden, komplexen Singles „Clothed In Smoke“ und „A Nameless Shape“ sowie atemberaubenden offiziellen Musikvideos haben UNTAMED LAND heute im Vorfeld der Albumveröffentlichung eine dritte Single veröffentlicht. Das 15-minütige Opus „The Heavenly Coil“ ist ein sofortiges Highlight mit Orgel, Cembalo und Akustik, bevor es sich mit progressiven Blackened-Metal-Zutaten mit Outlaw-Charakter vermischt.
Projekt-Mastermind Patrick Kern sagt über den Track:
„This song features the most dissonant and intense riffs on the album, but eventually transitions to a sparse and atmospheric mood of contemplation. When the distorted guitar comes back in, the tone is much different, and the story has taken a dramatic twist. You’ll have to listen to the album to see where it goes from here!“
While exploring influence and nuances from various strains of atmospheric metal, UNTAMED LAND traverses wild new frontiers – evoking the ambiance of classic Ennio Morricone/Spaghetti Western soundtracks and traditional old western instrumentals. While some listeners may be quick to label this a purely black metal album before diving into its depths, this description only scratches the surface.
UNTAMED LAND mastermind, composer and sole performer of all instruments (except for accented violin performances by Rita Torrens and vocal contributions by Caroline Joy and Jacob Wherley), Patrick Kern, was initially inspired by what he describes as pagan, cosmic and even “doomy” black metal when writing the album, but the material bloomed in a way that is much more multifaceted to be categorized so singularly.
Patrick Kern adds about the album:
The album ended up reflecting my own spiritual journey that occurred all throughout the writing and production process. I had a great time experimenting with many different styles and sounds for this release and am excited to share this new chapter in the UNTAMED LAND world!“
