IMMORTAL haben die Arbeiten an ihrem kommenden neuen Studioalbum abgeschlossen. Ihr neues Album, „War Against All“, wird über Nuclear Blast Records veröffentlicht. Es ist das 10. Studioalbum der Band und wird 8 neue Songs im klassischen IMMORTAL-Stil enthalten.
Bandgürnder Demonaz erzählt:

“Even though the studio work is necessary to get an ultimate recording, the writing process is obviously my favourite. I still write all the guitar riffs/music at home with the same old vibe, and the lyrics as well. The early days of black metal inspire me the most. Cold nights in the woods, on the mountains under the winter moon. That´s what keeps the spirit alive, and the foundation to all our music“

IMMORTAL aus dem norwegischen Bergen haben sich als eine der wichtigsten Black-Metal-Bands der Welt etabliert. Die 1990 von Demonaz (Gitarren) und Abbath (Bass/Gesang) gegründete Band veröffentlichte ihre ersten drei Alben Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism, Pure Holocaust und Battles In The North in den Jahren 1992-1995. Die ersten Alben etablierten und definierten den Musikstil, für den die Band berühmt wurde.
Die Band veröffentlichte dann 1997 das Album Blizzard Beasts. Kurze Zeit später wurde bei Demonaz eine Schulterverletzung diagnostiziert. Er arbeitete zwar weiterhin mit der Band zusammen, hörte aber auf, live Gitarre zu spielen. Abbath wechselte vom Bass zur Gitarre, und die Band machte im Laufe der Jahre mit verschiedenen Bassisten weiter und veröffentlichte die Alben At The Heart Of Winter (1999), Damned In Black (2000) und Sons Of Northern Darkness (2002).
Im Jahr 2003 wurde die Band auf Eis gelegt, kehrte aber 2007 auf die Bühne zurück und absolvierte mehrere Headline-Auftritte und Tourneen in Australien, Neuseeland und den USA. All Shall Fall wurde 2009 veröffentlicht, gefolgt von weiteren massiven Festivalshows und zusätzlichen Konzerten weltweit.
2015 gingen IMMORTAL und Ex-Sänger/Gitarrist Abbath getrennte Wege.
Im Jahr 2018 kehrten IMMORTAL mit Demonaz an der Gitarre und als Sänger der Band zurück und veröffentlichten ihr neuntes Studioalbum Northern Chaos Gods, das sowohl von den Fans als auch von der Presse sehr gut aufgenommen wurde.
Im Jahr 2023 wird Demonaz mit War Against All das 10. Studioalbum von IMMORTAL veröffentlichen. Studioalbum der Band. Das Album wurde von Demonaz komponiert und eingespielt, mit einigen Session-Mitgliedern, wie bei früheren Aufnahmen. Das Album wurde von Arve Isdal produziert und im Conclave & Earshot Studio in Bergen, Norwegen, von Herbrand Larsen und Arve Isdal aufgenommen. Gemastert wurde das Album von Iver Sandøy in Solslottet.
